On Sept. 24, 1963, when Gary Severson was a 16 year old high school sophomore in Grand Forks, North Dakota, he accidentally breached security at a speech being given by John F. Kennedy at The University of North Dakota.
The occasion was JFK’s reception of an honorary degree during the second stop of his 1963 Conservation Tour. That was the beginning of Gary’s lifelong journey searching for the meaning of the experience he had that day back in 1963.
Gary’s presentation will go into detail about an investigation he conducted into the involvement of LIFE Magazine executives in JFK’s murder. For 40 years Gary taught high school social studies. Fifteen of those years were spent at John F. Kennedy HS in Bloomington, Minnesota, where he taught 100s of students about the JFK assassination.
